Welcome

The Rainy Day Foundation was established to create and maintain responsible homeownership. Since the Foundations inception, a major focus was to provide tools to educate, counsel, support and financially assist homeowners who experience unforeseen short-term financial problems. Through the administration of the Rainy Day Program, the Foundation has been able to provide emergency support, (both educational and financial) to homeowners that experienced financial challenges.

The Rainy Day Foundation has assisted thousands of individuals from experiencing budgetary issues to mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures. The Foundation offers a variety of services that assist in correcting a vast amount of financial issues that individuals may encounter. From a lack of awareness regarding appropriate personal finances, to unforeseen financial difficulty, the Foundation has formulated various services that can proactively protect against or respond to most financial challenges.

Our experience over the past five years has shown that:

  • Most homeowners spend their financial reserves required for loan approval within the first 60 days of homeownership.
  • For a majority of low to moderate income homeowners, the first time there is a significant financial setback; there is not enough savings to keep them from experiencing financial challenges.
  • There is little or no understanding by the homeowner of their current monthly and future financial obligations. In short, they do not have a budget and do not plan financially for the future.
  • Most homeowners add significant debt related to the home during the initial two-years of homeownership.
  • Few homeowners have any support mechanisms in place to address all the aforementioned issues.
The Rainy Day Foundation's mission is to "Protect Homeowners from the Unexpected". The Foundation is not an insurance company and does not sell job loss insurance or insurance of any kind. The "HELP" program (Homeowner Education and Loan Protection) is designed to assist homeowners during the initial two years of their new mortgage. The HELP Program is subject to terms and conditions including but not limited to counseling services, education, eligibility and other limitations. Financial assistance is provided by the Rainy Day Foundation’s emergency grant/Rainy Day Program fund. The HELP Program is administered by the Rainy Day Foundation. If you are interested in enrolling in the HELP program, we will be happy to provide you with the names of participating lenders. Enrollment is free and individuals must be enrolled at the time of purchasing or re-financing their personal home mortgage.
